Employee Spotlight – Ty Nixon
By ERCJobs In NewsIt took some time, but this salesman was finally sold. After calling on Craig Libis for a year in his previous role as a computer hardware and software salesman, Craig finally sold Ty Nixon on a career in recruiting.
“As we talked over time, I became more intrigued,” Ty says. “Ultimately, I decided to join the team here at ERC, a decision I’m very happy I made. I enjoy helping people who are thinking about making their next career move, but may not be sure just how or when they’re going to make it.”
Ty has made a few moves himself. A native of Wakefield, Neb., Ty signed up for the Nebraska National Guard after high school and spent a year in Iraq serving his country. “My unit, the 189th Army Transport Company, drove a collective 3 million miles during my time there,” he recalls. After returning to the U.S., he graduated from Wayne State College with a management degree. After graduation, he worked as a Postmaster for the United States Postal Service.
Houston was his next stop. “I received an engineering certificate from Halliburton University, and I went to work as a drilling fluids engineer/field sales representative in Wyoming and Colorado until I was married,” Ty says, “which brought me to the Sioux Falls area.”
Ty and his wife, Karna, an occupational therapist, have a daughter, Ava, 8, and a son, Hank, 1. The family moved to Tea in October 2015, and they are getting connected in the community. “Away from work, we enjoy spending time together outdoors, and I like playing and watching sports.”
Though he’s enjoyed a variety of life experiences, from working in the wide-open spaces of Wyoming to riding a jet ski and parasailing on the Indian Ocean, Ty is very happy with where he is right now.
“The atmosphere at ERC is great, it’s almost family-like,” Ty states. “It is a fun, fast-paced place to work. We are genuinely concerned and involved in every aspect of the hiring process, bring value to the candidate and the client and help make the experience stress-free and successful for everyone. It is great to be able to help people and change their lives for the better.”
